How North Edge Distribution collects, uses, and protects information from customers who browse our catalog, open an account, or call us for a quote.

Who we are
North Edge Distribution is a Canadian supplier of tape, 3M tape, stretch wrap, and shrink wrap. We sell to businesses and organizations. This policy covers our website and the information you give us by phone or email.

Information we collect
We collect only what we need to quote, sell, and deliver products:
- Account details: company name, customer number, account type (business, personal, or government), and number of employees at the location.
- Contact details: your name, job title, email, phone, and optional mobile number.
- Billing and shipping addresses, including suite, city, province or state, postal code, and country.
- Quote and order details: model numbers, sizes, quantities, delivery notes, and the history of what you have ordered.
- Sign-in details: your login, email verification codes, and password, which is stored only in encrypted (hashed) form.
- What you tell us when you call or email, such as the product you need and when you need it.
We do not take card payments on this website and do not store credit card numbers on it.
Cookies
The site uses cookies that it needs to work: keeping you signed in, remembering items in your cart, and protecting forms from abuse. We do not use advertising cookies or sell browsing data. If we add analytics or advertising tools, we will update this policy first. You can block cookies in your browser, but signing in and the cart will then stop working.
How we use your information
- To open and manage your account and verify your email address.
- To answer quote requests, confirm stock, price, and delivery, and process orders and invoices.
- To arrange shipping with carriers and contact you about order status, backorders, or substitutions.
- To keep the records that tax and accounting law require.
- To keep the website secure and fix problems with it.
We will only send you marketing emails if you ask for them, and every marketing email has a way to unsubscribe. Order and account emails are not marketing.
Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run the business, and only what they need:
- Freight carriers and courier companies, so your order can be delivered.
- Our website host and email providers, which store the site and our mail.
- Accounting and payment providers, when you pay an invoice.
- Government authorities or others when the law requires it.
Some of these providers, including our website host, store data on servers in the United States. Information stored there may be accessed by authorities in that country under its laws.
How long we keep it
We keep account information while your account is open. Order and invoice records are kept for as long as Canadian tax law requires, generally six years after the end of the tax year they relate to. After that we delete or anonymize them.
How we protect it
The website uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Passwords are stored in hashed form. Only staff who need your information to quote, ship, or bill an order can see it.
Your rights
You can see and update your company, contact, and address details at any time under My Account. You can also ask us to give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it, and you can withdraw consent to optional uses. We may need to keep some records for orders already placed. We will answer within 30 days.
We handle personal information under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Children
This website is for businesses and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and change the date at the top.
